What Is Auction Insight Report?

The Auction insights report in AdWords is a platform to measure your performance with other advertisers who are also bidding on the same keyword & participating in the same auctions as yours.
The advertiser can pull these data only for Google AdWords search campaign & shopping campaign.

The auction insights report of the Search campaign provides 6 types of performance metrics:

Impression share: It is the number of impressions advertiser received divided by the estimated number of impressions he was eligible to receive.
Average position: This metric shows the average position of advertiser & other competitors’ Ad after a successful auction.
Overlap rate: This metric display how often another advertiser’s ad received an impression in the same auction where your ad also received an impression.
Position above rate: It shows how many times other competitor’s ad was in the higher position than your own ads in the similar auction.
Top of page rate: This metric shows how often yours or other advertiser’s ads) was shown at the top of page results, above the organic listing.
Outranking share: How many times your ad ranked higher in the auction than another advertiser’s ad.

How To Generate The Report

You can get an action insights report at the campaign level, ad-group level & keyword level. To generate your report, you need to select specific campaign or ads or keywords for which you want to pull data & click on the “details tab”.In the details tab, you have to click on the “selected” tab that automatically generates your Auction Insights report.
